THC Levels in Marijuana at Highest Ever

The latest analysis from the University of Mississippi's Potency Monitoring Project found THC at its highest level in marijuana since testing began in the 1970s.
"Marijuana potency has grown steeply over the past decade, with serious implications in particular for young people, who may be not only at increased risk for psychological conditions, cognitive deficits, and respiratory problems, but are also at significantly higher risk for developing dependency on other drugs, such as cocaine and heroin, than are non-smokers."
The Potency Monitoring Project has been analyzing marijuana samples since 1975. In their most recent quarterly report, the researchers documented THC levels as high as 37.2 percent, with average levels at about 9.6 percent. Of special concern among substance abuse specialists is the fact that increased THC levels increase the probability that users will become addicted. that is a load of crap. marijuana is the safest drug to use for recreational purposes, why you ask, well lets start with the 12,000 deaths each year that are contributed to the use of alcohol, that is not including all the alcohol related car crashes. On the other hand lets take a look at marijuana and all the deaths that is causes, o thats right no one has ever overdosed and died from smoking marijuana ever! also if you are trying to keep this killer pot out of the hands of our youths the LEAGALIZE IT and REGULATE IT. you think drug dealers ask for I.D when they sell a 12 year old a bag of pot? no. but the clerk at the 7-11 does cause he knows his ass can be in some big trouble for selling to minors. And as for our failed war on drugs that does nothing to discourage criminal gangs from flooding our streets with cocaine and herion. all the war on drugs does is this. Make the price of drugs so expensive that the criminal cartels make more money than god! do you see? they count on this war on drugs to keep there profits high. if you leagalize it you eliminate the black market trade and put money in the hands of the goverment by taxing the stupid stuff, come on people its common sense.

That's pretty scary - I treat a lot of people with addiction and I've noticed this is becoming more and more of a problem. People think they can't get addicted to pot, but it is very psychologically addictive.
